Meet Our Teachers!

Michelle Copland, Owner

Michelle Copland, Owner

Michelle Copland owner and founder:  In 2000 Michelle became certified in Pilates by The PhysicalMind Institute in Mat and Equipment. She decided that Pilates needed to be shared with Bergen County and opened up a small studio in Cresskill. After six years, she moved to a slightly larger location in Tenafly. Appreciating the complementary benefits of yoga/hot yoga and Pilates, she combined the two disciplines in her studio. After doing so, an even larger space was necessary to accommodate the demand for the classes. The search for another location was on! Finding the perfect space for the new "coolhotyoga", she returned to Cresskill and expanded even further! She didn't stop there! Opening an additional location in Calabasas, CA, she was able to bring CHY to the west coast. Michelle is certified in Pilates Mat/Reformer, Piloxing, Yamuna Body Rolling, Booty Barre, and AntiGravity Fitness/Restorative.

Denise Lynne

Denise Lynne

Denise Lynne has studied ballet for over 20 years. She first started at the young age of 2 years old. This allowed her to receive a scholarship program at only twelve years old, where she began assistant teaching. That led her to the Joffery School of Ballet, on a full scholarship, at the age of 16. She continued her career at Steps School of Dance and again winning a full scholarship! She is an active member of Actors Equity Association since 1989. Unfortunately, she suffered a debilitating injury that ended her dance career. She began to study exercise science at Bergen Community College to further her knowledge of the body. During her endless fight to learn what chronic pain is, she began a new journey in her life. She joined Kessler Rehabilitation Center for Physical Therapist and Madison Spine, where she began assisting patients in their fight with chronic pain. She was introduced to Pilates while working at the center, and a new love formed. She is Mat and Apparatus, Power Pilates, and Booty Barre certified.

Vita Koch

Vita Koch

Vita Koch started practicing yoga in the beginning of this century because she wanted to get in shape. Vita wasn’t flexible or strong, and she didn’t have good balance so the practice was a struggle. Yoga lifted Vita physically, mentally and spiritually to another playing field. The shift was gradual but holding poses strengthened her body and breathing deeper slowly calmed her.  Vita was able to practice daily and built her confidence.  In 2013, she took the 200 hour teacher training at Stone Yoga and with the guidance of Charlotte Stone. The practice and philosophy of yoga has become deeply integrated into her daily life. The joy she experienced from teaching is more than she ever expected. She gives many thanks to her precious teachers, including Kim Crotty, Lucy Feaster  and Jodi Levenson. Vita is continually grateful for the gift of this practice. She teaches in the Vinyasa style from Hatha philosophy, creating each class on a theme, and incorporating pranayama, mantra and meditation. Strong attention is given to alignment.  Join Vita on the yogic adventure. Check out a class. You’ll sweat and laugh out loud.
